The Statue of Unity is the world’s tallest statue, standing at a height of 182 meters (597 feet). It is located on the banks of the Narmada River in Kevadia, Gujarat, India. The statue was inaugurated on 31st October 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and the “Iron Man of India.”
Sardar Patel played a crucial role in the unification of India after independence by integrating more than 560 princely states into the Indian Union. The statue symbolizes his vision of a united and strong nation. Designed by Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar, the project was completed in just 46 months by Larsen & Toubro.
